Salon Manager

Pay Range: $22–$27 per hour
Job Overview
The Loc District is looking for a confident, organized, and people-focused Salon Manager to oversee the day-to-day experience of our boutique loc salon.
This is an on-site leadership role focused on team support, accountability, client experience, front-desk operations, and maintaining salon standards. The Salon Manager will work closely with the Owner and Operations Manager while serving as the primary point person for the physical salon and team during operating hours.
Responsibilities
Lead and support the salon team during daily operations.
Maintain a professional, positive, and accountable work environment.
Oversee front-desk operations, including greeting clients, answering phones, check-in and checkout, and general booking questions.
Monitor appointment flow and communicate with stylists regarding timing, delays, and client needs.
Hold team members accountable to expectations related to punctuality, professionalism, cleanliness, service standards, and client care.
Conduct weekly and monthly team check-ins and communicate concerns, progress, and needs to the Owner.
Assist with onboarding, training follow-up, and supporting new team members.
Handle client concerns, service recovery, and everyday conflict resolution professionally.
Maintain the cleanliness, organization, presentation, and overall readiness of the salon.
Monitor everyday salon needs and document when supplies, tools, snacks, or other small items are running low.
Purchase minor salon items when needed or communicate restocking needs to the Owner or Operations Manager.
Complete cash handling and bank deposit responsibilities when required.
Capture occasional photos, videos, and behind-the-scenes content for the Social Media Manager.
Support local partnerships, school relationships, internships, community programs, and salon events.
Serve as an on-site representative of The Loc District within the community.
Report directly to the Owner and communicate regularly with the Operations Manager regarding salon needs, team concerns, and client issues.
Assist with shampooing when needed to support salon flow.
Requirements
Previous experience supervising, managing, or leading a team.
Familiarity with locs, natural hair, textured hair, and the beauty industry.
Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to coach team members, provide feedback, and hold employees accountable respectfully and consistently.
Strong customer-service skills and confidence handling client concerns.
Comfortable working with scheduling, booking, point-of-sale, email, and other everyday business systems.
Reliable, proactive, organized, and detail-oriented.
Comfortable working independently and making reasonable day-to-day decisions.
Ability to maintain high salon standards for cleanliness, organization, presentation, and client experience.
Comfortable building relationships with clients, staff, schools, organizations, and community partners.
Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by the salon schedule.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Experience
Experience in salon, spa, beauty, hospitality, retail management, education, community outreach, or another client-facing leadership environment is a plus.
Compensation
$22–$27 per hour, based on relevant leadership experience, industry familiarity, and overall qualifications.
